Community Garden - Brimscombe
Group Designer | Year 2 Reading Week | Drone Survey & Cross Sections
This was an optional activity during Year 2 reading week that gave me practical experience working within a design team under real time pressure. The brief was to design a community garden for a site in Brimscombe, working directly with a client from an initial site visit through to a final design presentation on the Friday.
I conducted the site visit and used my drone to capture aerial photography of the site, which became a key reference throughout the design process, helping the group understand the topography and context from the outset.
I contributed to group brainstorming and ideation, and co-produced all four cross sections alongside a first-year student. As the group size reduced during the week, I adapted to take on more responsibility to ensure the design was completed to a good standard by the deadline.
The project provided valuable hands-on experience in client engagement, collaborative design, and delivering to a fixed deadline — skills directly applicable to professional practice.
