I transformed Alney Island into Rivenwood Island - a year-round sustainable destination integrating flood-resilient recreation, renewable energy, enhanced biodiversity, and the annual Meadow Camp Fest camping festival.

The festival zone, spanning over 40,000 square metres, is positioned in the lower section as a secure camping area hosting live music with stargazing experiences. It sits adjacent to the solar farm for shared infrastructure, carefully separated from sensitive ecological areas.

The upper half features an enhanced nature reserve with a Nature Hub café and visitor centre as the community focal point, alongside environmental education and heritage interpretation facilities along the trail network.

Elevated boardwalks throughout the site provide all-season access, even during flooding — transforming what was previously a limitation into an opportunity for unique landscape experiences.

The design also incorporates a solar energy farm adjacent to existing power infrastructure, supplying clean energy to Gloucester’s grid and positioning Rivenwood as a sustainability beacon. Connectivity improvements include a widened pedestrian bridge to Gloucester Docks, a new bus stop, and connections to Sustrans cycle routes.
